Pura Facades supplies the UK’s thinnest GRC concrete panels which can be moulded or shaped to create formparts. 

Manufactured by Rieder, formparts is a glass reinforced concrete (GRC) panel that can be formed into 2D and 3D elements, specified for creating a strong façade look akin to stone in a range of natural pigment colours. These GRC panels do not require any sealing or finishing, the concrete is through colour, and available in 3 finishes: Solo (even and smooth) Ferro Light (semi-sandblasted) and Ferro (fully sandblasted).

Referred to as Fibre C material, (Glassfibre concrete) one of the key benefits of this unique GRC product is its ability to be moulded and shaped whilst maintaining a thickness of only 13mm and a weight of 30kg per square metre. Each lightweight concrete flat panel can be formed in U-shapes or C-shapes for vertical fins or spandrel panels.

Other popular GRC formed panels we offer are arches, corner pieces, window corner side jambs or sloping windowsills – often designed in conjunction with flat panels across the façade. Thanks to the two layers of glass fibre mesh embedded in the concrete, the panels are very strong and impact resistant.

The formparts horizontal feature band is easier to install and simpler to fix than traditional GRC or pre-cast. With a weight of only 30kg per square metre there’s a clear advantage in replacing pre-cast concrete pieces with Fibre C formparts. The advantages in using a thin lightweight concrete panel are obvious for load bearing and site lifting, and the strength of the GRC panels is not impaired – formparts even stands up well in bomb blast tests! These concrete façade panels offer a wide range of possibilities for printing on the surface of the panel, irradiating designs, cutting out ornaments or lettering or incorporating a relief-like surface.

This natural façade cladding is popular in hot climates to keep the sun off a building if used in a solar shading format, while still providing ventilation. With a special colour range, perforations, individual forms and three-dimensional elements, Fibre C formparts offers individual planners ample scope for creativity using the durable component of GRC. There is also a wide potential for perforation in varying 3D shapes and sizes using Rieder’s cast product

Fibre C Formparts panels are manufactured in two lengths and thicknesses. Rieder offer special productions of 1250mm widths and up to 4m lengths. All Fibre C formparts panels can be fabricated to your exacting requirements.

Panel Thicknesses:

  • 13mm in all cases

For projects over 1000m2, the additional width of 1500mm and length of 4500mm is available.

Fibre C Formparts is available in 10 classic colours, each in 3 surfaces creating a vivid design on any façade. Fibre C Formparts can also be produced in RAL colours upon request. The three surface finishes consist of sand blasted (FE- Ferro), finely sandblasted (FL- Ferro Light) and brushed (MA-Matt).

Rieder’s Fibre C formparts offers a distinct advantage over other colour-treated materials by creating a consistent colouring through the whole panel, allowing each panel to obtain its natural appearance from all angles including the rear. The mixture of the desired colour is created before the actual production process and becomes part of the product by being blended with the raw materials. Fibre C Formparts is coloured by ferric oxide colours and natural additions and subsequently sandblasted. The pigments used in the liquid colours are UV and weather resistant and not soluble in water, providing durable, long lasting colour. Due to the characteristics of natural cement, slight variations occur in colour between production batches. If the uniform colour appearance is desired, we recommend placing full orders so the batch is cohesive. Fibre C Formparts offers the possibilities of creating different shades by laying different textures next to each other in the same colour. This creates variance and interest through texture differential alone. There are three different textures available.

For Fibre C formparts installation, we recommend using three main fixing methods which include face fix, concealed fix with anchor and bolt, and concealed fix with adhesive. Bespoke fixing systems can also be recommended but for best results, speak to our technical team first on 0203 269 2052.

Fastening Rieder Fibre C formparts
Despite their length Fibre C formparts can be attached to any building with only 2 fixing points per element. At the crossover points i.e. where horizontal & vertical elements meet, both elements can be mounted at a common point on the building: this also allows for substructure savings. Thanks to the light weight nature of the elements, just 13mm, as well as the great spans, less material is required in the substructure. The pre-assembly of wall anchors allows for a fast assembly which will not be affected by the elements. The Fibre C formed parts are mounted on the substructure & fine-tuned. The uniform handling guarantees a fast & efficient assembly. Thus, Fibre C formparts are an economic solution for the entire building casing.

Fibre C Formparts Concealed Fix with Anchor

Panels with a thickness of 13mm can be invisibly fixed using aluminium hangers with undercut anchors. Fibre C Formparts must be fastened to a metal substructure. Panels can be supplied with pre-drilled bore holes for easy installation.
