The Company

Pura Façade is 5 years old, and is
part of Vivalda Group Plc with a turnover this year of over £40 million. Pura
employs 14 people, and started trading in 2014 having been researched and
launched by the existing directors of the Vivalda Group as a new and separate
business within the Group. Pura’s performance to date has been strong, rising
to a peak of £6m per year in sales from a standing start six years ago, and has
been profitable every year. Pura specifies and sells high end architectural
façade products, which determine the look of any given building’s exterior once
installed. They come in a range of natural looks, finishes and sizes from
thicker blocks to thin lightweight panels. Pura are distributors and
fabricators of these high-end natural cladding products, so we buy and sell
them as well as offering our clients the additional services that they require
to design and install these materials on their building. These services include
elements of the façade design and engineering work and the associated fixing
system layouts. We offer product presentations to architects, specialist façade
installers and building contractors. We also offer onsite training and support
from first delivery to site through to building handover. The Group is known
for having a successful and effective sales force, and an experienced and hands
on management team. The MD and directors are directly involved in the day to
day running of the business and are always accessible. Vivalda Group PLC has
been profitable every year since inception in 1999, and owns most of its sites.

The Role

To do the design for external elevation cladding panel
layouts and associated fixing system component layouts, working from general
architect intent drawings. Or it could be to check and tweak ‘already
dimensioned’ panel design drawings received from our contractor customers.

The principal responsibility for this new role within our
growing company is to protect the interests of Pura Facades by being the link
between our external designers and our internal staff and external clients.
This will involve issuing design instructions to our suppliers where necessary
according to your workload, and checking their work once returned, before
issuing to the internal Pura project manager for release to production. This
could be for full elevation panel layouts from the GA’s, or just dimensioning
the joints and interfaces with features and other façade materials working from
pre-marked up and dimensioned drawings. Or it could be just for the fixing
system layouts if our customer is supplying the panel layouts themselves.

You will be the only designer at Pura, and your colleagues
will brief you on each upcoming project, and the work required. This will be a
varied role, because we start the process at architect advice stage to get our
façade cladding products specified and then progress this to contractor advice
at tender stage which involves doing drawing take-offs, and panel type and size
scheduling. Then, once we get the order the real design starts, this varies
from requiring a layout design for the whole façade and fixing system, or
checking another designer’s work and scheduling the panels and components
required, or selected parts of that process depending on how much scope of work
our client wants us to carry out.

You will maintain good relationships with our fixing system
design and supply partners and our outsourced design partners, who will welcome
your input to minimise their own omissions which could affect the project
progress if not caught early on in the process.

You will help our technical manager and operations manager
to understand timelines to design completion on any given project or area. You
will also liaise with the Pura accounts & admin assistant to issue invoices
for the work you’ve undertaken if relevant.

Your role will also be to work closely with our sales
managers and estimators to advise and assist when they are trying to win new
projects, and once those projects are gained to communicate with the customer
to progress the design process. Our customers are main contractors or façade
contractors, large and small but mostly at the higher technical end because our
cladding products are at the more expensive and higher quality end of the
market.

Finally you may be involved in helping us to come up with
innovative fixing system solutions for our more technical façade pieces, like
formed GRC panels. This would probably be in conjunction with our existing
fixing system supply partners.

In summary this is a varied and interesting design role
working on high end architectural buildings with a nice, friendly team who help
each other. Queens Park is a great place to work and our offices are spacious
with plenty of break out spaces.
